Being highly praised as the rare talent in one century, Pavel Sporcl (born in 1973) ranks not only among the foremost representatives of today's young generation of violinists but also his name figures in the book "Violin Virtuosi: from Paganini to the 21 century" by the eminent critic and music historian Henry Roth.
He studied the violin at the Prague Conservatory, and subsequently in Professor Vaclav Snitilユs class at the Academy of music in Prague. From 1991 to 1996 he pursued his schooling in the U.S.A., initially at the Southern Methodist University of Dallas with Eduard Schmieder, then at Brooklyn College under Itzhak Perlman and Masao Kawasaki. He finished his American studies at the Juilliard School of Music, with the legendary Dorothy DeLay.
He has won many major awards, including laureateship of the Prague Spring International Competition (1997), Bohuslav Martinu Society Prize (1996), victory in the Holland Music Sessions World Tour laureateship of the ARD Munich Contest (1992) In the Czech Republic, Pavel Sporcl has regularly appeared at the most prestigious venue, Prague's Dvorak and Smetana Halls in particular and music festivals, Prague Apring Janacek May, Mitte Europa, Concentus Moraviae, Moravian autumn.
He has also worked with a number of outstanding soloists and conductors at overseas.
As is frequently seen in Pavel's programme, he is dedicated a performer of the twentieth-century music works of Sylvie Bodorov, Arvo Part, Alfred Schnittke and John Corigliano. Pavel is keen to work on new era of music and often collaborates with the group of Czech composers called "Quattro Group".
A frequent guest of television and Radio programs, he has to his credit a formidable list of CDs, including a critically highly acclaimed recording of music by Josef Suk and Bohuslav Martinu(1997), and also recent album "A Paganini(1999)"is a consequence of prominent work of Pavel.
