The Swedish Chamber Orchestra O¨rebro, based in the city of O¨rebro, is
Scandinavia’s only fulltime chamber orchestra. The O¨rebro Concert Hall, situated
on the Black River in the historic centre of O¨rebro, is the orchestra’s home.
From this base it gives some 100 performances a year divided between subscription
concerts and tours - national and international. Thomas Dausgaard is the
Principal Conductor of the Swedish Chamber Orchestra since 1997.
The Swedish
Chamber Orchestras rapid development, attracting attention from leading international
conductors and soloists, has come as the result of intensive recording (Naxos,
Simax, BIS and Hyperion) and increasingly touring. Most ambitious is the
work in progress recording the complete Beethoven orchestral works and piano
concerti with Boris Berezovsky, soloist and Thomas Dausgaard, conductor.
5 CD’s, on the Simax label, have so far been released to international critical
acclaim.
“…there’s abundant life, quick-witted musical intelligence, inwardly
charged expression, scintillating precision, humour and a sense of awe…”
