Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra

Founded in 1954, has a large symphonic repertory. Besides world famous Czech composers as Dvorak, Smetana, Janacek, Martinu it has a big experience in performing of compositions of great composers e.g. Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Brahms, Strauss, Schumann, Szymanowski, Bruckner, Bruch, Reger, etc. and also of modern and contemporary composers as Stockhausen, Cage, Feldmann, Wolf, Satoh and others.
The artistic profile of the orchestra is characterized by the full, rich and colorful sound, musicality and technical maturity, slavic temperament and softness of strings.
Among famous conductors who have cooperated with the orchestra are Vaclav Neumann, Vaclav Smetacek, Jiri Belohlavek, Libor Pesek, Zdenek Macal, Charles Mackerras, Arvid Jansons, Vladimir Fedosejev, Serge Baudo, Roberto Benzi, Helmut Rilling, Christian Arming, among soloist we can mention Ivan Moravec, Josef Suk, Vaclav Hudecek, Mstislav Rostropovich, Lazar Berman, Andre Navarra, Janos Starker, Rudolf Kerer, Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, Montserrat Caballe, Katja Ricciarelli, Diana Ross, etc.
Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra has performed almost in all European countries, in many of them several times, in the USA [1995], in Japan [1999, 2000, 2003], Korea [1992, 2003], Taiwan.
Since 2002 Maestro Petr Vronsky is Chief conductor of the Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra.
